Launch of ESU Bangladesh

 

The launch of ESU Bangladesh took place on the 24th and 25th of January. The event was a great success. More details to follow.

Lord Mandelson (Labour), Vince Cable (Liberal Democrat) and Andrew Mitchell (Conservative) will represent the three main political parties at Dartmouth House over the next few weeks in a series of City Lunches organised by Jo Wedderspoon to highlight issues leading up to the general election.

Lord Watson of Richmond, Chairman Emeritus of the English-Speaking Union’s International Council and former Chairman of the English-Speaking Union of the Commonwealth, has been appointed as one of the four High Officers of Cambridge University, his alma mater.

The 2009 UK final of the ESU’s Public Speaking Competition for Schools was held at City of London School in April.

The International Public Speaking Competition 2010 will run between 17-21 May.

The ESU’s annual university debating competition, the John Smith Memorial Mace for England celebrated its 55th anniversary at Dartmouth House over 27-28 November. 

Following requests from alumni to have a wider range of events, Alumni Officer Cristel Guajardo has been hard at work.

 

ESU scholarships are highly prized and afford recipients the chance to extend their studies in a new environment and often in a new country. Here they develop not only in their chosen area of study but also as individuals as they experience a different culture and share their journey with like-minded people.

 

After a refreshing festive break, the ESU at Dartmouth House is back to work. With a new year packed full of programmes, scholarships and competitions, we are excited to welcome a new year and a new decade!
