2009 Branches' Conference

The 2009 Branches' Conference took place at The Angel Hotel in Cardiff from Friday 2 October to Sunday 4 October. Delegates heard talks from Mike Lake, Director- General, Martin Mulloy, Director of Education, Lord Hunt, ESU Chairman and Richard Oldham, Chairman of the NCEW. There were panel sessions on 'The ESU and Education', 'The ESU Archives- our past and our future' and the 50th Year Anniversary of the Schools Public Speaking Competition. A reception was held on the Friday night at 'Techniquest', followed by an opening dinner and entertainment by the Bridgend Male Voice Choir. On the Saturday a Gala Dinner was followed by a talk by the guest speaker, Hugo Vickers with the former Director- General, Valerie Mitchell in attendance after receiving a present from the members.
